- Gillet is a Belgian automobile builder founded in 1994 by former racing driver Tony Gillet. The company produced the Vertigo model coupe with an engine Alfa Romeo 3.0-liter V6.
The first Vertigo prototype was completed in 1991 and presented at the 71st Brussels Auto Show in January 1992. Within two years after the car was completed and began to be sold. Was presented in the salons of Paris and Geneva in 1993.
Two more models were constructed: a prototype to finalize the design and the first car line, used for certification, including frontal crash tests and seatbelts. Vertigo production differs from the prototype 1991 in materials and design. Its chassis made up of carbon (similar to F1 cars) fiber, ensuring greater strength and rigidity.
The windows grew larger and became retractable headlights. The first car was sold to Philippe Streiff, former French Formula One driver, who became disabled after collision tests in 1989. By 2008 Gillet Vertigo 25 models have been sold.
